FRANK GRABOWSKI
Genesis, Soundtrack of my Life
The painter and graphic designer Frank Grabowski has been a great fan of the progressive rock band Genesis since he was in his teens.
The artist lives in a region called Unterallgäu in the Bavarian Alpine Foreland for almost 20 years now and works as vice chairman of the local art association, the „Kunstverein Mindelheim“.
In 2013 he met his hero and guitar legend, Steve Hackett, famous member of Genesis, and got to know him personally. Frank Grabowski painted the musician and took the portrait to London where Genesis was in concert at Hammersmith´s. „The Rockstar and the Painter“ was the headline of the local newspaper in Mindelheim after this very special meeting.
Steve Hackett went to play the songs that are known from the classic line-up of the seventies during the highly sucessful world tour „Genesis Revisited“ in the last three years – famous names to be connected with are Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Phil Collins and Steve Hackett.
Frank these days has used this particularly creative period of the band for his personal visual monument. Also Armando Gallo from Los Angeles, the biographer of the band, was happy to give his consent to Frank Grabowski to use his pictures for his paintings. Frank Grabowski has interpreted the lyrics of the songs in various large-format paintings that he now presents for the first time ever in Kirchheim in the well-known Zedernsaal to all his followers, art lovers and friends.
The painter is particularly pleased and proud that Steve Hackett himself has promised to be there together with his wife Jo. They will come for one evening all the way from London to meet the painter who so passionately portraits the band.
